Yum Cha

Our Story

Welcome to "Yum Cha," where the essence of Cantonese cuisine comes to life in the nostalgic ambiance of 70s Hong Kong. The name "Yum Cha" itself holds a special meaning—it translates to "drink tea" in Cantonese, where "飲" means "to drink" and "茶" means "tea," reflecting the cherished tradition of gathering over tea and enjoying delectable dim sum dishes.

Step into our restaurant, and you'll be transported back in time to the bustling streets of 1970s Hong Kong. Our interior is thoughtfully inspired by the vibrant atmosphere and timeless charm of that era. It's a delightful blend of retro aesthetics and modern comfort, creating a unique dining experience that touches both heart and soul.

The Dream of a Hong Kong Boy

At the heart of "Yum Cha" is Chef Andrew Chan, a talented chef born in Hong Kong in 1987. In 2004, he ventured to Oslo, Norway, and pursued his passion for cooking, becoming a certified chef at the age of 21.

With more than 15 years of experience in various restaurants across Oslo, Chef Andrew's journey led him to dream of a place where he could share the authentic taste of Cantonese cuisine. "Yum Cha" is the realization of that dream.

Genuine tastes of Cantones Cuisine

Our menu is a celebration of classic Cantonese flavors and culinary artistry. Each dish is thoughtfully prepared with the finest ingredients, offering a genuine taste of Cantonese culinary heritage.

But the true star of "Yum Cha" is dim sum—a delightful array of bite-sized dishes that span the savory to the sweet. Dim sum, which literally means "touch the heart," isn't just food; it's a cultural experience that brings people together to savor the pleasures of good company and delicious flavors.
